Argentina Rio Corrientes
The landscape, wildlife and ecosystem photography of Gary Braasch captured the essence of the Esteros del Ibera, Argentina's huge northern wetland. This month long assignment for Doug Tompkins and the Conservation Land Trust provided images for brochures and presentations documenting the ongoing purchase of more than a half million acres of this endangered area. The Trust is buying ranches and grazing rights to reduce damage from cattle and will eventually try to reestablish rare species of anteater and wolf. Gary was guided by the region's gauchos, often on horseback (the horsemen pass so often through deep water higher than the stirrups, that to protect their boots they ride barefoot!)
After this assignment Gary had 36 hours in Buenos Aires and did not waste a moment in shooting a portfolio of this cosmopolitan city.
